PRIDE

PRIDE

People Respecting Individuality, Diversity and Equality (PRIDE) is a student-based group committed to decreasing harassment and increasing school pride at the Riverside Campus. Based on the tenets of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, PRIDE is in its first full year of existence and going strong.

Currently, we have 80 juniors and seniors who have been trained at PRIDE ambassadors. These students have been through a two-day training focused on the Olweus program and a one-day training for group facilitation. Once a month, our PRIDE ambassador lead a group of 8th, 9th, or 10th grade students who participate in discussions and activities pertaining to harassment and bullying.

Our future goals include creating a campus-wide club open to any student 8-12, developing a 'defender' initiative in which students will be trained in how to defend other students against harassment, collaborating with the elementary and middle schools, and much more.
