Preschool Registration

Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, Riverside Local Schools will implement and manage its own inclusive preschool program. The program will serve both typically developing preschool children as well as preschool children with disabilities.

For the last several years, the preschool program has been housed within the District, however it was managed by the Lake County Educational Service Center. In October of 2018, the Board of Education voted to bring the program back to Riverside.

Registration for preschool (ages 3-5) will be conducted at the Riverside Board Office, located inside of Riverside High School (585 Riverside Drive, Painesville, OH 44077) starting February 4, 2019 from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration is first-come, first-served and spaces will be limited. To be eligible for preschool, children must be 3 years of age on or before September 30, 2019 AND must be potty trained.

The preschool program will have AM classes (8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.) and PM classes (12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.) Monday through Thursday. AM classes will be reserved for 3-year-olds while the PM classes will be reserved for 4 and 5-year-olds. Preschool will be housed at both Melridge Elementary (AM & PM) and Buckeye Elementary (PM only).

The cost of tuition is $100 per month – per student. First month of tuition, as a deposit, is required upon registration.

The preschool program is licensed by the Ohio Department of Education and follows a state approved curriculum that is aligned to the Ohio Early Childhood Content Standards. The goal is to prepare all children for Kindergarten by implementing all five developmental domains; fine/gross motor, communicative, adaptive, cognitive, and social/emotional. In addition to the five developmental domains, children will learn how to compromise, be respectful to others, and problem solve - preschool provides a place where your child can gain a sense of self, explore, play with peers and build confidence.  The preschool teachers are licensed by the Ohio Department of Education.
