Gym transformed into Athletic Performance Center

Riverside Campus is transitioning its John R. Williams Gymnasium into an Athletic Performance Center.

The Athletic Performance Center is a 3,600 square foot weight training room and a 3,600 square foot all-purpose athletic floor.

Student athletes, for the past three years, have been using a weight room underneath the Board Office due to structural issues in the Field House.

“This project has been three years in the making,” said Superintendent James Kalis. “We were in the need for better facilities for our students. We did not have an adequate fitness center.

“It’s not just our athletes who will benefit from this Athletic Performance Center, but all of our students who are taking physical education classes.”

The transition is being paid for by funds from the permanent improvement levy. In addition, the Gridiron Club donated 90 lockers to the Athletic Performance Center’s lockerroom.
