About Miss Kish

I am very excited to be joining Riverside Schools this year to teach music! I am a recent graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and very excited to have a classroom of my own.  My schedule is split between Hale Road, Hadden and Madison Avenue. Our music rooms will be active; full of singing, chanting, playing instruments, and moving. We will explore lots of different aspects of music like performing, listening, improvising, and composing our own music!

My teaching style is a blend of Orff-Schuelwerk and Music Learning Theory. Orff-Schuelwerk is a movement and music based process that emphasizes student choice and creativity. Music Learning Theory is a well researched theory about how students learn music. It emphasizes listening and audiation, or being able to hear and understand music in your head. This gives students a way to comprehend deeper aspects of music and the language to talk about it.

I look forward to learning more about the wonderful students at Riverside and making music with them. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. Be sure to follow our classroom’s twitter page to see what amazing projects and activities the students are working on!
