Students practice to master letter identification and sound.
Daily handwriting lessons focus on one or more letters learned.  Students use Fundations handwriting lines for all exercises whether they be done using paper and pencil, on the Smartboard, chalkboard, or dry erase board.  These lines are identified as: sky, plane, grass, and worm.
On what concepts will my kindergartener be assessed for the first quarter?
Identification of upper and lowercase letters
ability to recognize rhyming words
Ability to read the first 12 sight words on the "First 48 Words" list:  
I, like, to. for. and. are, you, see, the, do, my, is
Daily Message: We read 3 sentences, count the number of words, and determine the shortest and longest sentences. We identify the top, middle, and bottom sentences. We circle periods and the letters we are working on for the week.
