Second Semester Learning Options

As stated in our original reopening plans for the 2020-2021 school year, we will allow parents the opportunity to change their child’s learning option - that they originally opted into during the summer - for the second semester if they wish to do so between November 16 and December 4.

Please see the important information below:

  • Option 1: If you do not wish to change your child’s learning option for the second semester, you do not have to do anything.

  • Option 2: Switch your child from in-person learning to remote learning for the second semester, effective Tuesday, January 19.

  • Option 3: Switch your child from remote learning to in-person learning for the second semester, effective Tuesday, January 19.

  • If, and only if, you wish to change your child’s learning option for the second semester you will have until 4 p.m. Friday, December 4 to fill out THIS FORM. If you are NOT switching your child’s learning option, you do NOT need to fill out the form.

  • The District is implementing a deadline of December 4 so administration has ample amount of time to prepare for staffing and enrollment changes, for both in-person learning and remote learning, for the second semester.

  • Commitments are made for the entire second semester. Students cannot transition back & forth between in-person and remote learning.

  • We realize that consistency is important to students and families and there may be some concern about student placement and the ability to remain with the same teacher for the second semester. Please know that the plan is to keep elementary students with their first semester teacher when possible. However, please understand, that depending on enrollment changes for the second semester, staffing needs may also change. This could cause a class (and teacher) change for students.

  • If you are thinking of switching your child’s learning preference, THIS UPDATED DOCUMENT WITH FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS will guide families through both learning options.

Please see Governor Mike DeWine's Face Mask Order here.
Please see the District's Face Mask Policy here.
Should my child go to school today? Answer the questions in this document.

***It is extremely important to note that this document is fluid and may need to be adjusted and/or changed completely based on new information or requirements set by state or local officials. Please understand that depending upon the level of increased severity of COVID-19, we may be required to transition from our traditional setting to a remote learning program as directed by the State of Ohio, or the Lake County General Health District or deemed necessary by the District.***
