Transition to Remote Learning for All Students
Due to the increased spread of COVID-19, as well as the amount of staff required to quarantine by the Lake County General Health District, all students (grades Pre-K-12) will transition to remote learning until at least the end of Winter Break.

College and Career Readiness

Welcome to the Riverside Local School District College and Career Readiness Web page!

College and Career Readiness is important to our district as we strive to best prepare our students for their future lives. The cornerstone of college and career readiness is a belief that all students can build knowledge, skills, and habits that will help them succeed whether they decide to continue their education beyond high school or head directly into the workforce. It is the goal of the Riverside Local School District to ensure that each student has a realistic plan for their years beyond high school while also developing the important skills necessary to be productive citizens and employees.

This year, High School Assistant Principal Dr. Chris Basich will be working with the counseling department to finalize the "Riverside Road map", a detailed, grade-by-grade plan for student college and career readiness. Key elements of the road map are student long-term planning, extracurricular engagement, staff-student relationship building, development of study skills, and personal responsibility. Students will each be given a grade-specific road map and school counselors will check-in with students to ensure they are on track to accomplish their goals.

Beyond the "Riverside Road map", Chris will be focusing on improving the number of students attending college beyond high school, growing the Advanced Placement program at the high school, better assisting students who will not be attending college but have an interest in various trades or even starting their own business, and helping to identify students who have proficiencies in certain areas but may need assistance in getting started. Soft skills training such as interviewing, public speaking, etiquette, and social media precautions will also be addressed across the curriculum. Additionally, a collaboration with school counselors and administrators at the middle school level will help our younger students transition more smoothly to the demands of the high school social and academic environment.

The Riverside Local School District is excited to continue their efforts in the area of college and career readiness! For news and updates in this area please follow the RLSD College and Career Readiness page on Twitter @RLSD_CCR. For any specific questions please contact Chris at:
