Title 1

PARENT RIGHT TO KNOW - TITLE I PROGRAM INFORMATION

As a parent/guardian of a student attending a Title I building in the Riverside Local School District, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the classroom teachers who instruct your child. The federal law, No Child Left Behind, requires school districts to inform parents of their right to inquire about the qualifications of their child’s classroom teacher. Specifically, you have the right to ask for the following information about your child’s classroom teachers:
  • If the teacher has met state qualifications and licensing criteria for the grade level and subject areas taught;
  • If the teacher is teaching under emergency or provisional status;
  • Baccalaureate degree major, graduation certification, and field of discipline;
  • Whether the student is provided services by paraprofessionals and if so, their qualifications.
If you would like to inquire about any of the noted information, please call your school’s principal.

The purpose of the SCHOOL–PARENT COMPACT, found in Section 1118 of Public Law 103-382, is to build and foster the development of a school-parent partnership to help all children achieve the state’s high standards. Responsibility for improved student achievement will be shared by parents, the child, and teachers.
